Check Your Air Conditioning System For Faults During Spring

An idle air conditioning system is not ideal during summertime. However, that is what is likely to take place if you do not check it for faults and fix them during spring. Although manufacturers spare no pains to ensure that this gadget works faultlessly for many years, you need to clean them periodically. Ensure that you switch off the air conditioning unit and take its plug out from the mains before trying to clean it.

How This Cooling Gadget Works:

The air conditioner sucks in hot air from your room, passes it through a series of serpentine copper tubes cooled by a refrigerant, cooling the air in the process, and exhales the chilled air back into the room. The filter, through which the hot air passes during the suction process, traps dust particulates, allergens, and pathogens floating in the air. Ultimately, they choke the filter. As a result, air cannot flow freely into the unit, reducing its cooling efficiency. You should clean normal filters once a month. Remove the grille of the air conditioning unit and take out the filter. Vacuum clean it, then soak it in water for a couple of hours, and then dry it before fixing it on the unit. The HEPA filter is costlier but works efficiently for six months before you have to clean it.

Water Formation During The De-humidification Process:

The evaporator coil of the air conditioner condenses water vapor from the processed air, turning it into water. The water drops into a tilted tray, containing a hole to drain the accumulated water, and located beneath the evaporator fins. Dirt and grime absorbed from the atmosphere chokes this hole, impeding the water drainage process. Inspect the tray, locate the drainage hole, and remove grime from it using a thin metal pin. Push and pull the pin to unblock the drainage hole until water begins to flow through it.

Benefits Of Including Your Air Conditioner In Your Spring Cleaning List:

You should include cleaning your air conditioner as a part of your spring cleaning process. This ensures that you can enjoy chilled air, free of dust and other contaminants, during the peak summer season. Cleaning your air conditioning unit, apart from increasing its efficiency, reduces the time between breakdowns.
